Lacing a Doumbek is identical to lacing a djembe. The difference is they don't
use rings. The lace goes directly through the skin, which is reinforced with a
cord sewn around the edge (as in traditional djembe lacing). Often with very
thin skins (like fish) a piece of fabric is sewn around the edge of the skin to
keep it from tearing. As you know there are many variations on the basic lacing
method. I hope that helps. peace....jamal
